Meyer Wilson Accepting New Case Involving Amputations While On Invokana

The FDA Warns Consumers About Diabetes Drug Invokana

On May 16, 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a black box warning (PDF) about Invokana (canagliflozin), a commonly prescribed diabetes drug. This serious safety warning was issued after a series of studies showed that patients who take Invokana are twice as likely to require amputation on their toes, feet, or legs as patients who took a placebo, and are more than six times as likely to require an amputation as people who take other types of diabetes drugs.

Black box warnings require manufacturers to update their product’s packaging to include a notice for patients alerting them to the known risks of taking this drug.

Meyer Wilson is currently working with patients and their loved ones who have taken Invokana and have subsequently had an amputation to investigate their case and determine their legal rights. If you or your loved one have suffered an amputations after taking Invokana, you may be able to recover money for medical expenses and wage losses, as well as damages for pain and suffering and reduced quality of life.
